LAST CHANCE: Ossining Summerfest is Coming

Now is the time to connect with Summerfest organizers if you plan on being a vendor, performer or sponsor.

The third Annual Ossining SummerFest is scheduled for Friday July 27 from 4-10 p.m. in downtown Ossining. The outdoor summer festival and celebration will feature live musical performances, dance, drama and plenty of food.

"Ossining SummerFest is now entering its third year. It's really an evening to experience, discover, celebrate, shop and dine in beautiful, historic downtown Ossining," said Event Producer Omar Herrera.

If you are interested in being a vendor, performer or sponsor, visit the official event site or call Herrera at 914-236-3301.

"Summerfest is another indication of the growth of Ossining and our ability to host successful events and celebrate the arts," said Ossining Chamber President Gayle Marchica. "Our goal is to continue to attract our community and visitors to our beautiful town and village and experience the best of Ossining."

"The event has so much to offer for all ages, and it truly does involve all aspects of the community," said event coordinator Omar Herrera, the owner of OJH Productions, an Ossining-based company that offers lighting, sound, event planning, DJ services and decoration designing.

Herrera said he is excited for the event, but a little worried about the heat since Friday is predicted to be one of the hottest days of the summer with temperatures reaching 98 degrees.

"Please dress comfortably and stay hydrated," Herrera said.

Last year was the first year that Herrera put on a public event for Ossining. He said he was motivated to organize a festival for Ossining because "Ossining has so much talent and is so diverse."

Aside from up-and-coming local bands and DJs, this year's SummerFest will also feature drama segments put on by local actors, a Zumba class, and a light show to conclude festivities at 10 p.m.

"SummerFest attracts hundreds of festival goers and families... It brings community spirit, and of course business to the surrounding area," Herrera said.

The festival is scheduled to take place from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Market Square at the corner of Main and Spring Streets.

Aside from SummerFest, there will also be a waterfront concert on Friday night featuring the funk/pop band JigSaww at the Louis Engel Waterfront Park stage. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

Ossining Gears Up for SummerFest

Preparations are being made for Ossining's second annual SummerFest, which will be held in Market Square.

Hot off the heels of the Village Fair, Ossining is now getting ready for the second annual SummerFest. SummerFest is an evening event in Ossining's downtown Market Square. The Festival's founder says his event isn't your typical summer festival. "Ossining SummerFest is unique from your average other summer fair because it's an intimate yet well rounded event sponsored, funded, supported by Ossining residents [and] leaders themselves. It's an event that really ties in the local talent, businesses, families and more. It really is for all ages," said OJH Productions owner and SummerFest creator Omar Herrera.

Summerfest will include food vendors, children's rides and games plus musical performances. The bands that are slated to play include Ossining natives Dylan Robinson and Austin Schatz as well as rock n' roll groups Left in the Attic and The Melillo Brothers.

In addition to the musical acts there will also be other performances at the festival. "SummerFest will feature drama segments and a Zumba master class, by a professional instructor. In addition to the wonderful line up of performers, bands and DJs we also have a small light show to conclude the festivities at 10:00 p.m," said Herrera. The festival is on July 22 and runs from 4:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.

Hererra says the festival still has spots for two regular vendors and two food vendors. If you would like more information on becoming a vendor or more information about the festival you can click here.
